AFTER CARE!!
Don’t Shower Immediately
Why: Let the tanning solution develop on your skin. Showering too soon will wash away the bronzer and disrupt the tanning process.
How long: Wait at least 8 hours (12 hours is ideal) before your first shower.
Note: If you chose a rapid tan, follow the instructions carefully—typically, you can shower after 2–4 hours, depending on your desired shade.
Avoid Water and Sweat
Why: Water and sweat can create streaks, blotches, or uneven fading.
What to avoid:
Sweat from exercise
Swimming or exposure to rain
Hot, steamy showers or baths
Do Not Apply Deodorant, Perfume, or Lotion
Why: These products can interact with the tan and cause uneven fading or discoloration.
What to do: Wait until after your first rinse to apply deodorant or perfume.
After the First Shower
Shower Gently
Why: You want to rinse off the bronzer (guide color) without disturbing the tan.
How: Use lukewarm water and avoid scrubbing. No soap or loofah on the first rinse—just rinse your skin gently.
Pat Skin Dry
Why: Rubbing skin with a towel can cause your tan to wear off or streak.
What to do: Pat your skin dry with a soft towel.
Daily Aftercare (To Maintain Your Tan)
Moisturize Daily
Why: Moisturizing keeps your skin hydrated, helping the tan last longer and fade evenly.
What to use: Choose a hydrating body lotion or oil (without exfoliating ingredients like AHAs or acids).
Tip: Look for paraben-free and alcohol-free products to avoid stripping the tan.
Avoid Exfoliating
Why: Exfoliating can speed up the fading process by removing the skin’s top layer.
What to do: Refrain from using exfoliators, scrubs, or harsh body washes. Only gently cleanse your skin.
Shower with Care
Why: Long, hot showers or baths can cause the tan to fade faster.
What to do: Use lukewarm water and avoid soaking for long periods. When washing, don’t scrub your skin aggressively.
Use a Gentle Soap
Why: Harsh soaps can strip away your tan.
What to do: Opt for a mild, moisturizing body wash that won’t dry out your skin.
Avoid Chlorine and Saltwater
Why: Swimming in chlorinated pools or saltwater can fade your tan prematurely.
What to do: If you’re planning to swim, apply a waterproof sunscreen, and avoid overexposure to the water.
Wear Sunscreen
Why: Your spray tan does not provide UV protection.
What to do: Apply sunscreen regularly, especially if you plan to be outdoors or in the sun for prolonged periods. This protects both your skin and your tan.
Things to Avoid to Extend Your Tan
Tight Clothing
Why: Tight clothing can rub against your tan and cause uneven fading or streaks.
What to do: Wear loose-fitting clothes until your tan has fully developed.
Shaving & Waxing
Why: Shaving and waxing can cause your tan to fade faster, especially if done too soon after your spray tan.
What to do: If you must shave, wait at least 48 hours after your spray tan. Use a moisturizing razor and avoid harsh exfoliants.
Hot or Long Baths
Why: Soaking in hot water can cause your skin to shed more quickly.
What to do: Opt for short, lukewarm showers instead.
Scratching or Picking
Why: Scratching your skin can cause patches or uneven fading.
What to do: Be gentle with your skin. If you feel an itch, try to moisturize or tap the area instead of scratching.
Special Tips for Maintaining a Longer-Lasting Tan
Stay Hydrated
Why: Hydrated skin holds onto the tan better and fades more evenly.
What to do: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin nourished from the inside.
Avoid High-Heat Areas
Why: Steam rooms, saunas, and hot weather can speed up the fading process.
What to do: Avoid prolonged exposure to excessive heat.
Touch Up (If Needed)
Why: If your tan fades unevenly or in patches, a quick touch-up spray tan can help restore its glow.
How: Schedule a maintenance tan as needed, or use a gradual self-tanner to top off the tan.
