BEFORE YOU TAN!!

  1. Exfoliate Your Skin

    • When: Exfoliate 24 hours before your appointment.

    • Why: Exfoliation removes dead skin cells and helps the tanning solution absorb evenly.

    • How: Use a gentle body scrub, exfoliating mitt, or loofah. Focus on dry areas like elbows, knees, and ankles.

  2. Shave or Wax (If Desired)

    • When: 24–48 hours before your spray tan session.

    • Why: Shaving or waxing immediately before your appointment may irritate your skin and cause streaks.

    • How: If shaving, use a fresh razor and avoid shaving creams with oils. For waxing, schedule at least 24 hours in advance to allow your skin to calm.

  3. Avoid Using Lotions, Oils, or Perfume

    • When: On the day of your appointment.

    • Why: These can create a barrier on your skin, preventing the tanning solution from fully absorbing and giving you an even tan.

    • How: Come to your appointment with clean, dry skin—free from moisturizers, makeup, deodorant, and perfume.

  4. Wear Loose, Dark Clothing

    • Why: The tanning solution may transfer to your clothes. Dark, loose clothing helps avoid staining and allows the tan to dry properly.

    • How: Opt for dark clothing and flip-flops (avoid tight shoes and socks, which can cause marks).

  5. Remove Jewelry

    • Why: Jewelry can leave marks or prevent an even tan around those areas.

    • How: Leave your rings, watches, bracelets, and other accessories at home, or remove them before your session.

  6. Avoid Tight or Restrictive Clothing After

    • Why: Tight clothing can rub the tan off, causing streaks or uneven fading.

    • How: After your session, wear loose clothing to allow the tan to develop evenly.

  7. Do Not Apply Deodorant or Makeup

    • Why: Deodorants, especially those with aluminum, can interact with the spray tan and cause discoloration.

    • How: Skip deodorant or makeup on the day of your tan and before your first rinse.

  8. Bring a Hair Tie (If Needed)

    • Why: If you have long hair, keeping it tied back will prevent it from touching your skin and the spray solution.

    • How: Bring a hair tie or ask your technician to assist in keeping hair out of the tanning area.

Additional Tips

  • Hydrate Well: Drink plenty of water leading up to your appointment. Well-hydrated skin tends to take the tan more evenly.

  • Avoid Skin Treatments: Do not have facials, chemical peels, or any harsh skincare treatments within 48 hours before your spray tan.

  • Plan Your Schedule: If you plan on getting a manicure or pedicure, it’s best to do those before your spray tan so that your nails stay fresh, and you avoid accidental scrubbing or exfoliating.
